A 1920s stone-and-shingle house where the field of the slate was sound and everything around it had failed — valleys, step flashing, the eaves return and eighty feet of fascia behind the gutters. The honest scope was a restoration, not a re-roof, and it cost roughly a third of what a replacement would have.

Selective slate replacement in matched stock, new copper valleys and step flashing, fascia and soffit rebuild, half-round copper gutters and leaders.
Why it mattered
Two previous contractors had quoted full replacement. The field slate had another forty years in it.
